As we leave family today – I can’t help but feel what Sam is feeling in The Lord of the Rings. As Frodo and Sam are heading out for the adventure that awaits them – Sam stops in The middle of a field. And says:
This is it.
Frodo: This is what?
Sam: If I take one more step, it’ll be the farthest away from home I’ve ever been.
Frodo: Come on, Sam. Remember what Bilbo used to say: “It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.” None of us have ever been this far from home. None of us have ever seen this part of our country. We know the devil is seeking to attack and we know there will be hard times. If we don’t keep our feet like Bilbo said, there is no knowing where we might end up. That’s a lot of weight on our shoulders. The further we travel, the more the excitement, nervousness and anticipation is growing!
I can’t help but feel inadequate. I don’t feel I deserve this adventure. I never could have dreamed that this is the story that God is writing for me. But, it is and I can’t wait to read the next chapter!
Our next post will be from our new home in southern Texas!
Please keep us in your prayers as we begin this adventure with God.
